About the Role
Role Summary:
The Seaman is responsible for supporting safe vessel operations by performing maintenance, watchkeeping, and emergency duties onboard a merchant ship.
Key Responsibilities:
• Stand watch and assist in navigation to ensure the vessel maintains a safe and steady course.
• Operate and maintain emergency, lifesaving, and firefighting equipment.
• Participate in safety drills, including emergency response and damage control procedures.
• Carry out general maintenance, repair, and cleaning of deck areas and equipment.
• Assist in mooring, anchoring, and cargo handling operations.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas onboard.
• Follow instructions from senior officers and comply with all maritime safety regulations.
Requirements
Requirements:
Minimum 3–4 years of offshore/sea-going experience on merchant vessels.
Valid Seaman’s Passbook (Continuous Discharge Certificate).
Good knowledge of shipboard safety practices and emergency procedures.
Physically fit and able to work in demanding marine environments.
Certifications (Required/Preferred):
STCW Basic Safety Training
Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
Watchkeeping certification (as applicable)
Skills & Competencies:
Basic seamanship and maintenance skills.
Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.
Strong awareness of safety and emergency procedures.
Good discipline and reliability.
